Friday, March 1, 2019  (World Day of Prayer)

The apostle Luke records Jesus' call to pray when facing the impossible.

Luke 18:1 Now [Jesus] was telling them . . . that at all times they ought to pray and not lose heart,   (NASB)

It’s easy to pray when the answer comes the next day! But God is not a divine vending machine and His desire is to give His children what is best for them. Jesus was stressing the importance of prolonged, patient, persistence in prayer.

The underlying truth is that Christ-followers can trust God to answer their prayers correctly with “Yes”, “No”, or “Not now”. The Bible declares in James 1:17: “Every good and perfect gift is from above.” God sometimes delays His answer to grow our faith and encourage us to pray . . . even in the face of persecution!
