The prophet Jeremiah writes that God provides fresh mercy for the challenges of each new day.

Lamentations 3:22-23 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning:   great is thy faithfulness.   (KJV)

Why does the verse speak of God’s mercies as being “new” every morning? Because each day has it’s own unique challenges and concerns. If you worry about handling what might happen: the death of a parent, financial reverses, health issues – this verse says when that time comes . . . God will give you the mercy that you will need.

It’s wonderful to think of 2019 as a clean slate . . . a fresh start! In the same way, every morning is a fresh, new start. This beloved and much memorized verse says that when the trials and burdens of tomorrow arrive . . . our faithful Heavenly Father will have sufficient grace and mercy waiting for us – not today, tomorrow!
