The apostle John records Jesus’ words promising to send heavenly peace through His Spirit.

John 14:27 [Jesus said] Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (KJV)

Human peace can disappear in a fleeting moment! It seems the Evil One has but to whisper some long forgotten shameful act and your peace is gone. It brings great comfort to consider our Savior’s antidote: His peace! Christ offers you His peace by way of His Spirit who lives within each Christ follower. Remember how poised Jesus was as He moved through the events prior to crucifixion?

These words were spoken by Christ in the Upper Room on that last night He would have with the disciples before His death. He told them He was leaving them and they could not come with Him. To help the disciples move forward without Him, He leaves them His peace . . . His Spirit . . . which came at Pentecost.  Jennifer Eivaz wrote, "The reason we have a Comforter (Holy Spirit) is because on this side of heaven we will need comfort. Our peace comes from another world and not perfect circumstances."
