The apostle James declares that true faith produces authenticity.

James 1:2  Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of many kinds . . . (ESV)

Personally, I make it a point never to pray for humility!  I also, never pray for trials!  Seriously, the fact is, I seem to daily encounter lessons in humility and experience no shortage of trials . . . without praying for more.

"Temptations" is another word your Bible may have for "Trials".  The word James had in mind in this verse was trials, (i.e. the persecutions and afflictions we all face as Christ-followers.)  Although you may know in your heart "greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world", there is nothing quite like facing the trials of the Evil One and discovering the strength of God to be more than enough.
