The apostle Paul discovered when he was weak – it was an opportunity to see the difference heavenly power makes in a life.

II Corinthians 12:9  And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness."  Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.  (NASB)

The apostle Paul was raised in a cultured city, had the best education, enjoyed Roman citizenship, and lived a life keeping the law – yet these are not the things Paul boasts about. He had a dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus in which God spoke to him – but he does not boast about that! In order that pride would not master him, he was given a thorn in the flesh to remind him of his dependence on God.

Paul was arguably the greatest missionary and preacher who ever lived, and yet he lived by the words given to him by God Himself: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” As Paul lived in dependence on heavenly strength to do what God asked him to do –we can take a cue from that example! God’s power is greatest when we realize we cannot live the Christian life on our own. Let us live a fully-equipped life in dependence on God’s strength in 2019!
