The apostle Paul states that when Christ-followers live in dependence on the Spirit of God, they will be joyful.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy . . . (NASB)

The apostle Paul, while chained in a Roman prison, wrote another book of the New Testament:  Philippians.  It carries the message that in spite of difficult circumstances a Christ-follower can experience joy.  Corrie Ten Boom survived a Nazi death camp in World War II.  She said, "You can never learn that Christ is all you need, until Christ is all you have." But how does a Christ-follower experience joy in awful situations?

The power for overcoming joy is the Spirit of God living within the Christ-follower. Today, as you live in dependence on the Holy Spirit, His power will enable you to experience a Christ-like life – and that includes joy!
