The apostle Paul wrote that the truth of Christ's return will be questioned as time goes on.

2 Peter 3:3  [Peter wrote] Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires.

Jesus Himself promised the disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them, and would, in fact, come back and take them there!  When Christ did not return when people expected . . .  they began to mock.  In fact, such mockery is a symptom of the days before Christ's return.

After all, if you want nothing to do with Christ and His claims on your life -- it's easy to act as if there never was a promise to return.  The return of Christ is a warning to humanity that a clock is ticking for them to accept Christ's free gift of forgiveness of sin.  Bible-teacher David Jeremiah says nothing has to happen before Christ comes back for His followers.  It could happen today!!
