The apostle Paul writes that God is glorified when He accomplishes His will through mere human beings.

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves. (NASB)

The difference between a Christ-follower and one who is not . . . is the presence of God’s Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God comes into the life of a Christ-follower and is a source of light in a dark world. The Spirit produces a righteous fruit with various facets: love, joy peace, patience, self-control, etc. Such fruit empowers the Christ-follower to be a change-agent for righteousness sake. Although we are merely “jars of clay” we become channels of God’s blessing to the world around us!

The purpose of God indwelling mere humans is that He may receive the glory. Great followers of Christ:  Abraham, Moses, Esther and Rahab . . . were all flawed jars of clay, as are we. The difference was the overwhelming power of God energizing them! This world can change for the better -- when Christians live like Christians.
