The apostle Paul describes true, genuine love.

1 Corinthians 13:5  . . . Love does not demand it's own way.  It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  (NLT)

These days many Christ-followers are living no differently than the rest of the world.  So, where's the disconnect?  After all, the presence of God's Holy Spirit indwells each Christ-follower as a power source to live pleasing to God!

Ray Stedman writes:  "The negatives that are given here are associated with love . . . because these are the things we must set aside in order to let the love of God, which is patient and kind and honest, manifest itself."  Sometimes, loving the world as Christ loves it is as simple as that .  .  . getting certain responses out of the way so God's love can be revealed.  Your reactions to the behavior of others can reveal who you are . . . and whose you are!
