What Do Americans Think of Network News Coverage?
09.23.11 |
What do Americans think of national network news coverage? They aren't impressed. A Pew research poll out today shows record numbers of Americans consider news media to be immoral, inaccurate, and biased. The number of people who thought the media hurts democracy hit a record high: 42-percent. Americans also believe that news stories are inaccurate - with 66 percent thinking that, compared with 34-percent in 1985. Most said reporters weren't willing to admit their mistakes, were not professional, or didn't care how good a job they did. And 2 in 3 said reporters were politically biased in their reporting. A Gallup poll last week echoed political bias-- 47-percent said the news was too liberal, and only 13-percent said it was too conservative.
