Washington State 1 Vote Away From Gay Marriage

Washington State will likely be the next state to ok gay marriage. That would mark seven states where it's legal to wed someone of the same sex. The Senate passed the bill 28 to 21 last Wednesday, and it goes to the House this week, where it's likely to pass. Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire, a Democrat, has already said she will sign the bill if it reaches her desk. Washington's bill may still be challenged, though. Supporters of traditional marriage are expected to make a push to have the question put on the ballot in November, just like it did in 2008 with Proposition 8 in California.
