Victory for disabled children in New York

A Penn Yan, New York boy who was banned from going to school after a change in the state's vaccine law has just been granted re-entry.

His dad says the case sets a major precedent in the fight against New York's controversial rule regarding childhood immunizations.

Thorn Schwartz's father, Carl Schwartz, tells Family Life he now has the hope that his son will be able to return to school when schools reopen.

Thorn was not allowed to attend BOCES in Monroe County after his school rejected a medical exemption to the vaccine law.

Schwartz's own doctor says vaccines for him would pose "more of a risk than a benefit."

Last week, a Monroe County Supreme Court judge agreed saying the state overstepped its authority.
