Two Bills Introduced In Congress; One Allows Gay Military Weddings, The Other, Bans Them
11.04.11 |
Following the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, gays and lesbians are now allowed in our military. But now, a bigger issue has come up. Should they be allowed to marry-- while there? Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann and 86 other House of Representatives lawmakers signed a letter to the Senate yesterday asking them to pass an amendment prohibiting all same sex marriages in military facilities. A bill opposing traditional marriage called the "Respect for Marriage Act" has already been introduced in a Senate Committee, and will likely be heard next week. Something to keep your eye on.
