Tech-savvy taxpayers can find a load of helpful information on the Internal Revenue Service website. Rather than checking the mailbox or bank account balance daily, taxpayers can use the "Where's My Refund?" feature. After the taxpayer keys in a social security number, filing status and the exact refund amount shown on the tax return, the online tool will give an update on the refund check.

The IRS system acknowledges the return or advises when funds will be sent or deposited. The feature also gives a taxpayer a heads-up if a refund could not be delivered due to an incorrect address. The IRS website also has downloadable forms and publications for last-minute filers and a spot where some taxpayers can set up payment agreements. More information is available at irs.gov.
