Town of Tyre Fights Casino Development

Residents of this farming community are appealing a judge's decision to dismiss a lawsuit that would stop a Rochester real estate developer from pursuing a $350M casino and resort in the town of Tyre with 2,000 slots, 100 gaming tables, and a 200-room hotel. New York can issue up to four casino licenses upstate with at least one each in the Capitol Region, the Catskills, and the eastern Southern Tier. Sixty-one residents of Tyre have signed on to a lawsuit that would stop the casino construction.
