Republicans had a ten-day window to name a new candidate for November's ballot after Assemblyman Bill Nojay's suicide last week.  Last night, they named their choice: political veteran and former Assemblyman Joe Errigo.

Errigo served in the assembly for 10 years.  His Democratic opponent Barbara Baer calls the selection politics as usual.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Jason McGuire, co-host of the Capital Connection program on Family Life would be the Conservative Party's choice to replace Nojay.  More names may be coming.

The Reform Party had backed Nojay, but they will meet today to make their pick.
