Former state Assemblyman John Faso won the GOP primary in the 19th District for the right to take on Zephyr Teachout, a liberal activist from New York City.

The winner will replace Congressman Chris Gibson, who's retiring next year.

In the 24th District in Syracuse, a former staffer to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand claimed victory in a 3-way Democratic primary.

Colleen Deacon will take on incumbent Republican John Katko in November.

In her victory speech, Deacon stressed her experience as a single, working mom.

In New York's 22nd Congressional District, Republican Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney beat out two GOP challengers.  She'll carry the torch for Congressman Richard Hanna, who's retiring next year.

Tenney evoked the name of Abe Lincoln in her victory speech last night.

The 22nd District stretches from the Mohawk Valley to the Southern Tier.  It's ranked as one of only 20 tossups among all 435 House races this fall.
