Technology To Map Seneca Indian Nation For The Layman

A new app will be able to translate English into the Seneca Indian Nation language. Rochester Institute of Technology Graduate Student Robbie Jimerson is not a linguist or a fluent speaker of Seneca, but he is a Seneca Indian, has access to speakers of the language and an understanding of the culture, and he has the know-how technologically to build an application to chronicle the still-evolving seneca language, which has a dwindling number of fluent speakers. His project is called the Seneca Language Revitalization project, and it's tough because a single verb in seneca can have 320 possible forms. Jimerson is working under a team of people at the college. The project won't be done for several years.
