(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The recent string of young people committing suicide all across the U.S. is bringing national attention to the issue of bullying.  A new study from the Los Angeles-based Josephson Institute of Ethics found that half of American high schoolers admit to teasing or bullying someone at least once in the past year.  Nearly half said they had been bullied by someone else during the same period.

The Ethics of American Youth Survey also found more than half of high school students have hit someone out of anger.  Nearly 40 percent of boys said it's OK to hit or threaten someone who makes them angry, compared to 19 percent of girls.  The Ethics of American Youth Survey was one of the largest ever to look at bullying.  It involved more than 40-thousand teens from public and private schools in the U.S.
