A study released Monday says one in five preschoolers are obese. Researchers discovered nearly 20-percent of one to four year-olds are overweight -- and that number is worse among minority children. Public heath researchers studied the body mass of over 8,550 U.S. children

They found American-Indian youngsters to be the most obese at 31-percent based on national childhood growth charts. Hispanic and blacks followed at just over 20-percent. About 16-percent of white preschoolers are obese and Asians prove to be the least overweight at 13-percent.

Overall, the study suggests boys were more likely to suffer from weight problems than girls. The study is published in this week's "Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine."
