(San Francisco, CA)  --  Family finances aren't the only thing the economy is taking a toll on.  A new study shows child healthcare appears to have fallen victim to troubled times as well.  Researchers found that one in eight parents say their child has not received pediatrician-recommended care at some point in the past year due to cost concerns.  Furthermore, 42 percent of parents whose children were considered underinsured said their child's health "had suffered because of not being able to afford the cost of the needed care."

The same was true for less than two percent of those who were adequately insured.  The results of the study were presented over the weekend at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition in San Francisco.
