State Of Emergency In Flood-Stricken West NY

08.10.09 | FL News Team

A State of Emergency has been declared for several areas of western New York, including Gowanda, the Town of Collins, the Village of Springville and Perrysburg. A boil water order has also been issued as a result of flash flooding across the region. Yesterday's thunderstorms and heavy rains have given way to a flash flood watch in several western counties, including Allegany, Niagara, and Wayne. Additional rainfall today could cause additional flooding of creeks and streams and in poor drainage areas. The National Weather Service warns anyone in flood-prone areas move to higher ground.
