New York Governor David Paterson is counting on millions from the new "smoke tax" imposed on cigarettes sold on tribal lands in new york. The Senecas are maintaining their right to sell the cigarettes tax-free.  President Barry Snyder has written a letter to President Bush asking for federal intervention. The last time the state tried to collect tobacco taxes, protestors used burning tires to shut down a section of the state thruway.
