Rochester, NY Ranks Second In The Nation For Volunteers

A town in upstate New York won a neat honor this week. Rochester, New York's volunteers are ranked second in the nation, behind only Minneapolis, Saint Paul. The annual Volunteering in America survey, sponsored by the federal government, listed the Rochester area with a volunteerism rate of 34.8 percent. It means more then 1 in 3 of us lend a helping hand. Minnesota came in number 1 with 37 percent, and Washington state ranked third with 33 percent. Nationwide, 4 in 10 Americans volunteer.
