A group of Republicans are introducing a new bill in the house called the PROMISES Act -- otherise known as the Payment Reliability for Our Obligations to Military and Investors to Secure Essential Stability Act. Iowa Congressman Steven King says it guarantees the U.S. will pay bills in particular order, starting with military pay. He says, "They're the ones that protect the security and liberty of the American people and we can't defend our shores or our interests abroad if we're not going to pay our military. That's a guarantee. Their lives are on the line."

King and fellow Republicans Michelle Bachmann and Louis Cohmert say they just want to make sure that if the goverment does not come to a resolution on the budget talks, they will have enough money to take care of our servicemen and women.
