Report Finds Driver Error To Blame In Some Toyota Accidents
07.14.10 |
Information from a government probe into Toyota's unintended acceleration problems finds driver error the cause in a number of the accidents. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveals some drivers were hitting the gas pedal instead of the brakes when the crashes occurred.
A Toyota spokesman said although the company has not seen the information, internal investigations into the more than 3,000 reports of unintended accelerator accidents have found some drivers mistakenly had pushed the accelerator instead of the brake. Earlier his year the Japanese auto maker recalled 7.7-million vehicles in the U.S. for the accelerator problem.
