Pro-Life Billboard Group Plans Signs In Chicago
03.30.11 |
The same group that put up controversial pro-life billboards in New York City are doing it again, but this time, in Chicago-- and with the face of the President of the United States.
The group "Life Always" held a press conference Tuesday and unveiled 30 new billboards featuring the image of President Obama, the first African-American president. The billboards will be placed throughout poor areas of Chicago and will state, "every 21 minutes, our next possible leader is aborted." A Guttmacher Institute poll found that Hispanic and black women were three to five times more likely to have an abortion than white women. Life Always sparked controversy in February with its New York City billboard message stating, "the most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb." Complaints, threats and a planned protest caused it to be taken down. After it was removed, New York City Reverend Michel Faulkner responded, "instead of challenging the design of the ad, we should ask why the message is true and how can we change it."
