(United Nations) -- President Obama vows to boost America's commitment to foreign aid and development. Speaking at the United Nations' annual fall meetings, Obama said all people have a right to a decent standard of living. He said everyone's conscience should be shocked when a child dies from hunger or from a preventable disease anywhere in the world. Obama emphasized the international community has an obligation to "do better" in the fight against poverty, disease and hunger. He called global development initiatives a moral, strategic and economic imperative. The President said the world community must recognize the "dignity and potential of every human being."
