PPL Proposes 725-Mile Regional Power Line

Pennsylvania power company PPL says it's planning to build a new 725-mile system of electric transmission lines. A PPL spokesman says the mega-line would make electric service more reliable during power outages and reduce the cost of electricity to those on the grid. It would cost an estimated $4-$6 billion dollars. If it's approved, construction would start in 2017, whit completion sometime between 2022 and 2025.

PPL announced Thursday plans to build a new 725-mile regional transmission line that will run through four states. According to PPL, the new line would make electric service more reliable, reduce the cost of electricity to customers while enhancing the security of the electric grid.
