The Penguin Random House distribution center in Kirkwood, New York is closing by January 2015, as part of a merger. It will cost 300 people their jobs. The plant in Pittston, Pennsylvania is also closing because of the closure of the Kirkwood plant. Every year, thousands of readers flock to the Kirkwood plant for their annual book sale. Now, the only two plants that will be left nationwide are in Maryland and Indiana.
