PA Schools Funding Formula To Be Changed

A commission tasked with coming up with a recommendation for overhauling the funding system that provides key state support to Pennsylvania's public schools is now operational.
The Basic Education Funding Commission members met on Thursday for its organizational meeting and reminded its 15 members of their charge: develop a fair distribution formula for the basic education dollars that flow to the state's 500 school districts and charter schools. The commission will look at factoring in enrollment, property values and other information about school districts into the distribution formula.
