Pennsylvania health secretary Dr. Rachel Levine says the state has seen over 6,000 reported cased of influenza.

Six people have died in the Keystone State from the virus this year, compared to 148 last year.

This year's flu vaccine has not been particularly effective, but doctor Levine says it's still too early in the season to get a grasp on how well the flu shot is doing.

She says, even if the vaccine isn't totally effective at preventing the flu, it will decrease the severity of the virus if someone contracts it.
