Pa gas driller offers Susquehanna County families water containers

A natural gas driller has backed off of plans to remove tanks that’ve been supplying fresh water to Pennsylvania families who claim the company polluted their wells. Instead, the gas industry will give the families the storage containers. A spokesman for Tulsa, Okla.-based WPX Energy says they've decided to leave the water tanks with two families in Franklin Forks, a village in Susquehanna County. The company had previously planned to remove its water buffaloes and other equipment from the homes today. State environmental regulators concluded in April that gas drilling wasn't responsible for the problems in families' water wells, but environmentalists and the families disagree. The situation attracted a high-profile visit earlier this year from anti-fracking celebrities Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon and Susan Sarandon
