PA Deficit Continues to Grow

Pennsylvania's budget shortfall continues to grow. State officials say tax collections ran $334 million behind projections in March, and $1.6 billion for the first nine months of the fiscal year.

The Rendell administration says the numbers are on track for the $2.3 billion shortfall it projects by the time the fiscal year ends in June. State Sen. Jake Corman, a Centre County Republican, says the March shortfall is not as bad as many feared. He points out that, in a strange way, it is good news.
