One PA lawmaker wants to put more resources into stopping robocalls

State Senator Andy Dinniman is working on a bill to target them.

Dinniman says the calls bombard people to the point of harassment. And they are targeting the elderly.

His bill would allow you to not have to re-register for the do not call list every five years.

The legislation would require telemarketers to offer an opt out at the beginning of each call. And, it would crack down on spoofing, where makes it look like a call is coming from a local number.

Robocalling surged 60% in 2018. Last year alone, Pennsylvanians received 160 million robocalls.
