Obama Condemns Moscow Attack, Putin Vows Action

President Obama has denounced the suicide bombings on Moscow's subways that have killed at least 37 people and injured 65. Obama has issued a statement saying Americans "stand united" with Russians in opposing, quote, "violent extremism and heinous terrorist attacks that demonstrate such disregard for human life." Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin vowed the perpetrators would be tracked down and punished and, quote, "terrorists will be destroyed."
Suicide bombers carried out a deadly attack on two subway stations in the Russian capital during this morning's rush hour. Russia's security chief reported the bombs contained bolts and iron rods and linked it to attacks in the North Caucasus region. The death toll's expected to climb due to the severity of people's injuries. Casualties were reported among train passengers as well as those on the platforms. The incident is being described as the worst attack in Moscow since 2004, when Chechen rebels killed at least 39 people aboard a metro train. No group has come forward to claim responsibility for today's bloodshed, however the mayor of Moscow says it was the work of "two female terrorist suicide bombers."
