NY Strikes Down The Defense Of Marriage Act

A federal judge in New York has ruled the Defense of Marriage Act, which protects traditional marriage, is unconstitutional. The ruling by Manhattan federal court judge Barbara Jones followed a decision last week from a U.S. appeals court in Boston. She says it discriminates against gay couples. Jones is the 5th judge to find the 1996 law unconstitutional. A case on D.O.M.A. is currently pending in the U.S. Supreme Court.
