NY politicians hammer out a bi-partisan solution to the opiod epidemic

The state activity comes as Republicans and Democrats at the federal level have join forces to combat opioid misuse.

New York Senator Fred Akshar of Binghamton says lawmakers have been willing to have this conversation.

The measure passed last night in the Senate would increase scrutiny of arriving international mail that may include illegal drugs, and would make it easier to conduct research on finding non-addictive painkillers.
