NY Lotto Brings In More Cash; Schools Aren't Benefitting

New York's lottery revenue is soaring, but the percentage going to schools is stagnant. The lottery revenue hit a 9 billion dollar record this year, but the percentage of aid that goes to 700 school districts statewide hasn't budged. Only about 15 percent of school aid comes from the lotto. Patrick Pierce, a political science professor at Saint Mary's College, said "the notion was that the lottery was going to give states a big chunk of change to remarkably improve education-- and that hasn't happened."
