New York Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver wants the minimum wage increased and the Dream Act-financial aid for Illegal immigrants to attend college-passed in the next few days. Silver says he wants the minimum wage to be 10.10 an hour in New York. Though certain cities would be allowed to request a living wage up to 30% higher than that. He's also pushing for passage of the Dream Act., which has passed the assembly twice and been defeated in the senate once. But the official calendar only has both houses meeting through next Thursday-and the senate says it has no plans to consider any high profile bills before adjourning.
