WalletHub spokeswoman Jill Gonzalez says Pennsylvania ranks 39th and New York 41st when in comes to high property taxes.

The average yearly Pennsylvania property tax is $2,600, while New York residents shell out an average of $5,000.

Hawaii has the lowest property taxes in the country, while New Jersey has the highest.

Gonzalez says the silver lining is that both states have no vehicle property tax.

However, she adds that New York and the Keystone State make up for the loss of vehicle property taxes by charging higher registration and license fees.
