No Agreement Between Groundhogs
02.02.12 |
The groundhog community is divided over the demise of winter this year. As Groundhog Day is observed today, the gold standard of furry prognosticators says to keep warm coats at the front of the closet. Punxsutawney Phil came out of his Pennsylvania burrow in Gobbler's Knob this morning to see his shadow and forecast six more weeks of winter. The woodchuck that serves as Michigan's "official" groundhog has a different take. "Woody" didn't see her shadow this morning, leading to a prediction that spring will come sooner this year. Staten Island Chuck sees spring on the horizon sooner rather than later. The New York City rodent didn't see his shadow this morning. Ohio's Buckeye Chuck also predicted that spring will be here soon when he didn't see a shadow today. Only time will tell which of these critters is right. However, if we get 6 more weeks of this so-called winter we have had thus far, is it really that big of a deal?
