Niagara Falls, NY wants to update sex education classes at school

The move is making pro-family forces "hoppin' mad."

District Superintendent Mark Laurrie says teaching abstinence-only sex education is not working.  He notes the teen pregnancy rate in Niagara Falls is double the state average.

But opponents say this change in policy is a veiled attempt to let Planned Parenthood in the door of public schools.

School board member Gary Boisclair says "anybody who is connected with Planned Parenthood is connected with each and every act that Planned Parenthood does."

The Niagara Falls district is expected to vote on the controversial change to sex education classes next month.
