02.22.19 |
New York has been named one of the easiest states to pass a drivers test in, according to a new study.
The study by Siegfried and Jensen examined total costs, a knowledge test, road test requirements, and learner's permit requirements.
Drivers in New York only need to pass the knowledge test by 70 percent, tied for the lowest in the country.
A drivers test in New York only has 10 elements involved compared to a nation-high 19 in Washington state.
While passing a driver's test in New York might be easy, it won't come cheap compared to other states. The cost to pass a driver's test in New York is $20, the 10th highest in the country.
Drivers in Washington state fork out the most, paying $85 for the test.
The information gathered is based on the official driver handbook (or equivalent) issued by the Department for Motor Vehicles in each state, websites of the Department for Motor Vehicles in each state and information on driver testing from comparison websites Driving-Tests.org and DMV.org.
