New York Closing More Prisons

          New York is closing seven prisons and transferring about 26-hundred inmates and 14-hundred staff members to its 60 remaining penal institutions in an effort to save millions of dollars. 
          There are currently close to 56-thousand prisoners incarcerated in New York.  Prison Guard unions warns these closures represent the largest cuts in state corrections history and argues it could jeopardize public safety.
