New NY License Plates On The Way
11.10.09 |

Come next year you'll start seeing new New York license plates on vehicles. And within the next two years, state officials say you will have the new plate on your car as well. The Department of Motor Vehicles has unveiled the new design in the state's official colors of blue and gold.
Starting in April, registrations expiring in May will have their old plates replaced, which comes with a 25-dollar pricetag. And if you want to keep your current plate number, well, that will cost you another 20-bucks. The state says the program will generate 129-million dollars over the next two years. The DMV says the new plates will improve safety because the shiny new metal is easier to see by law enforcement.
