The entire U.S. food industry is the target of a documentary to be released Friday. The movie entitled "Food, Inc." exposes how the majority of food is produced by a few giant industrial corporations and not farms, and shows secret footage of questionable procedures in chicken and cattle production facilities. The documentary also draws connections of plant methods to obesity, salmonella, diabetes, E. coli bacteria and pollution.

In defense, the food industry created SafeFoodinc.com and other websites that assures the safety of the food supply. A trade association spokesperson said there is a great deal of misinformation in the documentary. Another industry insider claims that 82-percent of the food produced in the U.S. comes from farms. The U.S. food industry is a 142-billion-dollar-a-year business.
