Nebraska Voters Approve Anti-Immigrant Measure

06.22.10 |

Voters in Fremont, Nebraska, have approved a measure making it illegal to hire or rent housing to undocumented immigrants. According to unofficial results of the balloting, 57-percent of the voters were in favor of the ban. The population of Fremont is about 25-thousand. It's the latest in the anti-immigration sentiment gripping the nation. The Nebraska ordinance follows passage of a controversial Arizona law that would allow police to require people to show proof of citizenship.
