National Day Of Prayer Marks 60 Years Tomorrow
05.04.11 |
Thursday, May 5 marks the 60th annual National Day of Prayer. The day was first set aside in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress. This year's theme is, "A Mighty Fortress is Our God," is meant to spur comfort-- with all the natural disasters, foreclosures and unemployment in America. Shirley Dobson is the chairwoman of the event. She spoke with Pat Roberston on the 700 Club yesterday about how significant this day is. She says it's not just a prayer breakfast in Washington, it's much, much larger. She encouraged you to check out your area on their website to see if there's an event going on, and if not, host your own private prayer around the dinner table tomorrow. If you want to know if there's something going on in your town, take a peek here.
