Four Lexus models will be recalled by Toyota due to steering problems. The latest recall by the Japanese automaker will extend to some 45-hundred cars in Japan and 38-hundred in the U.S. Worldwide, the total recall could reach 11-thousand-500 and also involves vehicles sold in Europe and China. The models that are part of the recall are the LS460 and LS460L, and hybrids LS600h and LS600hL. Ten complaints related to steering difficulties have been fielded in Japan and an undetermined number in the U.S. Toyota says it is not aware of injuries or crashes related to the recall.

 According to Toyota, the recall stems from an option on the vehicles called the "variable gear ratio steering'' system. The device puts the steering wheel back in a centered position after certain maneuvers are made, such as U-turns. Toyota has been plagued by a series of recalls since last year involving millions of Toyota and Lexus vehicles, primarily due to unintended acceleration issues.
